Hi, I’m Khris.
I am an experienced coach with a military and martial arts (karate and taekwondo) background.
From pain to purpose.
In 2004 I was in chronic pain from injuries sustained whilst serving in the Australian Army. Over the next decade, I survived on increasing doses of painkillers, and eventually needed to use a walking stick to get around because I couldn’t feel my feet. I ended up with severe depression; overweight, constantly tired and struggling to work or look after my family.
Over the last few years I have worked hard to transform my life from one of pain to one of purpose. I found a practitioner who could properly rehabilitate my injuries (thank you Kelly Mann), and over time I was able to reduce my dosage of painkillers to nil.
Rediscovering that awesome feeling sport and fitness gives you both physically and mentally motivated me to become a coach. I studied, worked in a commercial gym for a few years until I realised I wanted to get more involved in strength & conditioning coaching.
I had been training and competing in local powerlifting competitions and taekwondo tournaments, so I took the leap and started working at Iron Underground in Albion and in 2018 I moved to my gym family home, Panthers Powerlifting.
I love my job.
I know first-hand the immensely positive changes in both physical and mental health that strength training can bring, so helping other people discover their own potential through strength and fitness is very rewarding. Coaching people in a gym like Panthers, where a positive, friendly community is just as important as hitting those PBs is a dream.
